Celebrate

It has been a particularly difficult season of life for us. While there has been great joy in our family growing, there has also been great sorrow as we've faced more life change all at once than I thought bearable. Luckily the Lord sustains, comforts and refines through trials.

We had much to celebrate over a delicious dinner last night as we turned the page on a new chapter. Jake started a new job yesterday, we're settling into a new church that has been beyond welcoming to us, and we're creeping closer and closer to being parents by the day.

I ache when I think about how silly my heart is. In the face of change I often resort to fear, sorrow and complaining. Rather than focusing on the riches I have in Christ, I dwell on what I do not have. Yet God remains faithful and proves it over and over again. He is a provider, and he carries us through trials not for our comfort, but for His glory by which he increases our faith. Praise be to God.

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
