The Crib Debate

If you follow me on Pinterest, I apologize. It's clear that all I have on my mind is baby adorableness. Nursery's, strollers, and onsies, oh my! I'm planning to get our Crib in October, but I just can't decide.

Help?

I'm torn between a modern, streamlined IKEA crib and a traditional vintage-inspired white Jenny Lind crib. Both look wonderful. Both get outstanding reviews. I just can't make up my mind. And with only a $69 price difference, it's making it even trickier.

So, weigh in here. What do you think?

I feel ya! I'm due in 5 weeks with our first baby and had to go through the same crib decision making. I went with the Jenny Lind. I wasn't as happy with the look of the Ikea cribs in person. So if you have one nearby it might be worth it to take a look. I also think my Jenny Lind (which we bought from Amazon) is sturdier than the Ikea one...although they get great ratings so I wouldn't be worried about the quality of Ikea. I really liked the look of the low rise modern cribs from Land of Nod but at $900 no thank you. Walmart had a similar one by baby mod that was $299.However, in the end the Jenny Lind won out and I've been very happy with it. Hope that helps.

We have the Gulliver because we got an amazing deal, but the Jenny Lind is my dream crib (those spindles!). I already told my husband, in the unlikely event that we have another baby, I'm getting the Jenny Lind!

oh wow! what a tough one. i love them both:) i'm always a sucker for the vintage vibe so i would personally go for the Jenny Lind... even though i love the modern ikea simplicity, i always end up choosing pieces that remind me of my own baby furniture or family pieces with history.

Congrats, Kara!
I like the look of both cribs in these pictures, but I agree that the Jenny Lind might feel sturdier for the money, so it may hold up better through several kids. I love those spindles too! I think it sort of gives the crib a "family heirloom" feel. So basically, I agree with everyone else and pick the Jenny Lind. :)

Choosing a crib is so fun! When my son was born this summer, we wanted a clean, modern look for the crib as well, but chose the BabyMod Parklane from Walmart (the same one Leah mentioned, I'll bet). We chose it because we loved it, and still do, so we waited for it to go on sale and got a great deal with free shipping. I think either of these cribs will be great for Baby Gehret, so just go with what you love the best!

The IKEA one looks more boyish and the Jenny Lind looks more girlish. Can ya wait till you know for sure the sex?

If I was going purely off looks, I'd choose the ikea one for you. Mostly because you are going for a very vintage dresser, right? To me the two would compliment rather than compete. But as for holding up to wear....

Jenny Lind! I like the softer more organic lines of that crib.

I think the Jenny Lind crib is one of those all of your babies will use. :) I think it's more likely to become one of those you pass down through your family, so it gets me vote. Both are beautiful and fun though!

hello! I found your blog because I work at MDB, the manufacturer of the Jenny Lind crib pictured here (DaVinci Baby is a sister brand of ours!). I know it's a bit more expensive than the IKEA crib, but it's really beautiful in person (I know, I know, I'm a bit biased :). We also have a great one-year warranty on all of our cribs, have NEVER had a recall, and genuinely love what we do.

best of luck!
