A Table for Community

Today is my birthday. Last week was my wedding. We got home from our honeymoon yesterday.

I thought maybe a card would be in order from my new husband for my birthday.

But no.

He did the most romantic thing ever. EVER.

When we got home my absolutely amazing gift was waiting for me in our dining room. He had our friends deliver it while we were gone...

A table he built out a huge antique barn door.

When I walked into the dining room I lost it and just started sobbing.

I have always dreamed of a having a giant table to feed our friends and family for a lifetime. This table is beautiful, perfect, and will EASILY sit 10. Sharing a meal is about so much more for me than trying a new recipe or showcasing my love of cooking. It's about sharing life with the people around us.

It brings tears to my eyes to think about all the friends, kids, grandkids, and strangers that will sit around this table. And, I can tell them all my husband built it for me as a surprise. This giant table is for me a reminder of everything Jake and I love about community.

This is one my most cherished memories ever.

Thank you Jake. I love you. I love you. I love you.

You're a very lucky woman, Kara! Welcome back and I'm looking forward to seeing wedding pics and other delightful things that that man does for you! And, I hope one day I can count myself as one of the lucky ones who has been seated at that table. Yay for community!
