Bad blogger...Mountain Cookin'

Hi my name is Kara

And I'm a bad blogger.

This is evidenced by:

- My lack of real good meaty blog posts lately
- My lack of personal pictures
- My lack of cute DIYs
- My lack of commenting back to everyone
- My lack of motivation
- And again, my lack of camera

My sincerest apologies :) I love you all. Each and every one of you, sorry I have not had my game face on this week!

In the meantime, I would like to share with you one of my favorite rooms ever to exist....

My Aunt Kathy's wood burning kitchen

My aunt is the master junker. She is a pro at finding treasures at garage sales and making her home look beautiful. They live in an adorable home up on a mountain in North Carolina. They took their back porch, finished it in, and made an old fashioned wood burning kitchen. Last year at Thanksgiving the family got together and made old family recipes, in old family cast iron pans. It was one of my favorite memories ever.

And I KNOW you guys will love what she's done with the place!! Isn't this amazing?

Here is a full shot of the kitchen. I love the baskets across the ceiling
(please notice that pie safe I'm coveting)....
Look at this hoosier cabinet. I love it. She keeps flour, sugar and such out here in her vintage canisters just for cookin in this kitchen...

She's got cute checked curtains and a table cloth. This little white table is adorable too. And, it wouldn't be Kathy's room without a rooster!

Here's to stove. I'm loving all the cast iron on the wall, along with those pumpkins and gourds peekin' in...

Fried Taters. It doesn't get much better than this....

Kathy, lil' Mason and I threw on aprons and cooked up some delicious tea cakes!

Here's the two of us at my Grandma's. Can you tell we're related?

I can't wait to go visit the mountains the week after Christmas!

What are you looking forward to in the last few months of the year?

Come back and see me!

~Kara

Oh. My. Gosh. That is fantastic! Your aunt is awsome (and being referred to as a 'master junker' is a big compliment indeed). Loved seeing this.

What am I looking forward to??? probably going home for the holidays for the first time in 8 yrs... since I've moved from North Dakota, I haven't made it home... just too busy, too expensive, etc... this year will be definately one to remember! :)
