Design Star, Nashville Star, and an Exciting Anouncement

What a crazy weekend and week! My adorable new little homestead has been cast off to the side as I go visit friends, watch project runway, get caught in torrential downpours at the fair parade, and much more.

Luckily, I'm hitting up a thrift store down the road over lunch. Maybe I'll find something wonderful!

Being as I've unwillingly taken a bit of a decorating hiatus, Here's what's been exciting in my life as of late:

1. Design Star- If you read my blog, you know I'm obsessed. You can probably also guess that I was a little bummed that Mr. Matt didn't win. Come on blogger girls! I think one of you needs to apply for this show!!!

2. Nashville Star- DO ANY OF YOU WATCH THIS?! I was THRILLED by who won. Melissa, a mother of 5, a "real sized" woman and one hell of a singer. I was so proud like she was my friend or something. She was my favorite, and I even broke down and participated in voting for this girl's sake. Hopefully she makes it in the country music biz.

And Drum roll Please.....

This is really exciting news for me.....

I Catch myself daydreaming about it all the time......

I'M GOING TO BE ATTENDING FLORAL DESIGN SCHOOL!!!!!

I have been dreaming about learning floral design since high school, and hopefully one day at least being able to do flowers for weddings here and there, and now the dream is becoming much more of a reality. A local college near me offers a certificate program in Floral Design. I will be taking 4 semester-long courses in design, a course in shop management, one for bookkeeping, and even a few on gardening!!! Keep posted, as I'll be searching for a florist to take me on for Saturdays so I can learn the industry. I can't wait to dig in and get my hands dirty with class, beginning August 27th.

Everyone with me now, Hip Hip Hooooray!

p.s. If any of you are in the STL or Edwardsville area and work for/know a florist who make take a lovely little lady on for Saturdays, please let me know.

Now, if only I could get back to my home projects :)

Come back and see me!

Pick is just down the road from your office. The owners were regulars of our (until the moved shops and now frequent the "other" sbux). But, they were nice; maybe try them. One guys name is Clint and the other one I can't remember other than venti half caf (it's true, we know our customers by drink and not name).

It's so exciting Kara...

Once you are in business, we need to get in touch! Hopefully my wedding business will be up and running then and maybe we can work together. I have done flowers for a couple weddings and it is such a BLAST!!

As far as your question about the flower boxes...you don't need to perforate them, because usually there is a gap between the 2 pieces of wood...but a couple more holes never hurt if you feel like it would work better for your crops.

Thank you for stopping by! I added you on my blog roll, so keep in touch
