First off, I found a spider in my bed and that was unpleasant to say the least. Yes, I may have called my mom crying. She is used to my over-dramatic self.
Secondly, I though you all may enjoy a picture of my new headboard with a bed against it. Now that my bed is together the issue is... I don't like the stuff on the Mantel. I threw together a random collection of things I have laying around. Any suggestions?
Also, I'm thinking I may switch out those throw pillows. They were from my old bedding which was a minty-type color. I fell like everything looks disjointed.
HELP LADIES! I BEG YOU!! HELP!!! I'm not getting a "this is so cute I could sit in here all day" feeling from my bedroom right now, and quite frankly that is exactly what I want to be able to say to my bedroom every time I walk in.
Ewww look at how not crisp those pillows are, and kind of crooked. That's what I get for making my bed at midnight so I can take pictures :)
Let the suggestions begin!
Hungry? Check out this delicious little bit of goodness! Just posted to Kara Cooks!

I think the first thing you should do is change the pillows. You could do a ticking stripe pattern (perhaps on a lumbar pillow). Any patterns that accent your headboard material. I would also paint the frames above the bed black. You need to match the cool tones of the headboard. Instead of the stuff on the left, perhaps a long, shallow bowl with some greenery in it? In one of the small frames above, type out your initial in black and just frame it. Make it simple, but eye-catching. I just love that headboard, so you've got a great start. I'll be back to see if some others leave suggestions. I know it's fun to get them. Good luck!
First, I love your headboard. I think you should limit the mantle to the frames you have, only move them to the left side. Then add an ivy or some kind of plant on the right.
For the pillows I might try fabrics that coordinate more with the colors in your headboard. I like the ticking fabric idea and maybe a plaid fabric in the headboard colors.

Kara, I just love how this headboard turned out. I'm trying to decide if the wall color is soft blue or white? And is that fabric dark navy or black? It's hard to tell in pics, but I think it is dark navy. Anyway, decide if you want to bring another color in there with pillows & let that be your starting point. If you want to stay neutral, then look for some solid pillows and something with a small pattern to add. I think adding some aqua blue would be nice in there or red would work too. Totally depends which direction you want to take this room. Monochromatic or pops of color? Either way will work.

Your headboard is stunning! I need to show it to my husband! :o) I am with Chris, the pillows would be the first option to change out. I personally like a quiet feel to our bedroom, so I am leaning in the neutrals. Lots of white, cream, etc. Your duvet is gorgeous! I like the softness you are using touches of.
I am looking forward to your design choices! :o)

Ps. What about big, comfy euro pillows? Maybe three along the back?
To add to your list of gross things you don't want to find in your home....two days ago I found a tick crawling on the toilet seat. (That was after I got up!) Needless to say, that could have been disastrous on my end.
I agree with everyone else...new pillows and maybe a bit of contrast on the mantle/headboard. Also, you can't go wrong bringing in some natural elements (greenery or leaves or something.) Those glass jars could be filled with silk or dried flowers for a pop of color.
I love your creativity! You should have your own show on HGTV. :)
I love the whole set up, it's gorgeous. Also, I posted last night about my experience with critters/crying/and being dramatic. There must be something in the air! :)
That headboard is MARVELOUS! I would search for some different pillows though... maybe some pin-stripe fabric and some starched white ones... maybe European size? I'd stick w/ nuetral to show off the fabric on the headboard. But I love it... love love love it.
I drove past your place yesterday (creepy, I know)!!
I love the headboard and the stuff on the mantle. If you change out the pillows it all might go better together.
Don't forget about next Wednesday!!
